For the glass rod, there are runes that are arranged in such to draw in magic radiation. This may be a Rod of Absorption? No it appears to have caused something to be drawn to them, a sword of magic. It appears to be a Rod of Cancellation! We plan to keep it in the Guild Hall. He uses it on Iona who has dropped her magic items. There is a ding noise and a strong draw toward the blade of Lowir. Actually we sell it for 21,500 gp.
Josalyn is testing out the rod with Tatrin, she is attempting to save. She resists the spell.

We returned to Starling on 11/18 last session.
We are heading 27 miles south of the Fissure, where we defeated the Red Knight.
We do not have a direct path to get to this location other than coming from the north.
The weather is clear. We will take the route toward Dead Man's Stone and skirt around it. The castle of Dead Man's Keep has a visual distance of 5 miles approximately and can notice us passing through that hex.
We will stop 1 hex south of Dead Man's Stone. On the second half of the day, we will be outside the reach of Lord Thomposon. The weather has grown cloudy in the evening.
We are camping out in a hills hex.
The morning weather is still cloudy and nothing has been encountered in the evening.
We will travel north through Dead Man's Stone, then pass through the hills and then cross a river. We are stopping in the Medium Forest Hex.
Xrith gets Surprise Rolls.
We are ALL surprised, both airborne and ground. Encounter distance is 10“ in the medium forest.
There is the sound of a great tree falling and people are seeing big movements as the trees shift back and forth. Then a split moment later, there is a croak of a frog from a great commotion through the trees.

Treants are thrashing around with Giant Toads, the Toads are deleafing them and the Treants are stomping them.
Irayas is at a distance of 10” and decides to fire. The Sling Bullet misses. Xrith does his maneuver and sees 6 Treants and 19 Giant Toads in a great melee. It is rough terrain and undergrowth and confusing. The Treant steps are pulling up earth. On the ground are two of those bars for carrying pails, like giant size. There is liquid sparkling in the buckets. The Treants are protecting the buckets.
Giant Toads have AC 6 and 2+ HD.
The combat round goes badly for the Toads, 6 of them are killed.
Light is 4 segments to cast. Irayas misses with a sling. Magic Missile is cast by Risten for 12 points of damage.
Xrith dive bombed and hits with 1 claw for 2 damage. Xrith is now in melee. Yohan hit one for 11 damage and Walker hit for 7 damage.
The Treants did a bunch of damage to the Giant Toads this round. They killed 2 more. 11 Giant Toads remain. They get second attacks killing 2 more. 9 Giant Toads. 6 Treants left too.
The Toads attack. There are 3 Toad hits. Light spell goes off and one Toad is now blind.
There is a Morale Check this round. The Treants attack first. The Treants have killed more, the Toads are down to 5.
Omaz's horse hits for 3 damage and he hits for 6 damage. Walker's horse hits 13 and Yohan kills one. There is only 1 Toad. Lucien did 1 damage and the Toad survives. Risten fires his Magic Missile at both, 1 gets 7 damage the other gets 10, killing 2.
After the Toads are slain, the 6 Treants collect themselves and look down upon our party. The leader speaks in a drone and rushing of leaves. It salutes us.
Two of them go to the buckets on the ground, which were fully defended. Xrith cannot speak to the Treants in Elvish and they cannot speak to them in Common. The party departs while Walker harvest Frog meat.
The Treants are transporting the liquid for Druids, we should leave their business alone. They did not say they did not want our help, Lucien did. Lucien lets them know we are camping in the area and they accept our offer to stay with us during camp.
The Hippogriff feasts upon the dead Toads. The Treants take us a quarter mile to the west, to a concealed grove beneath the forest floor. The forest ground appears to continue steadily but there are strange bushes the produce more forest floor. The Treants reveal a gradual decline into a hollow beneath the bushes, concealed here we will be much safer.
The night passes without incident.
The Treants are traveling within 5 miles to meet some Druids. Lucien will attempt to ask them if we can accompany them. The Treants deliberate and indicate that we can accompany them.
We continue to the west into the Heavy Forest with the Treants, toward the mid point of the day we start to see signs of Druids. Carving on stones, baubles hanging from trees. Finally we come to an open field with the sensation of a great dome, except the column of light coming down.
In the center of the grove, a garden and three figures. Two men in Brown Robes and a Brown Bear. We recognize Domencilius and Jorn, the Druids.
Xrith talks to them and greets us, welcoming us. They are in the midst of establishing a new site of holiness. This is unusual to meet with non Druids here. We are welcome to stay. Yohan introduces himself and says we wanted to accompany the Treants here. We are welcome to stay in the grove. They insist that we do stay and rest.
The bear has been listening intently and it is well behaved.
The Bear is EOMIAJE! He rejoins the party.
Eomiaje has been offered the chance to be a sort of avatar of this new grove. This position would require him to spend 1 full consecutive season per year at the grove, but would grant him some benefits through the druids obviously.
We are in the forest hex and will head North, one Hex away from the destination. One hex north east of the target in the hills.
We set up camp and then head out. We head to the south east, towards the lake on the far side. The map takes us to a section of Hills where we find a sunken trail winding through the hills.
We arrive at our destination. We can see portions of rubble and can see where the trail leads to, a half buried ruin with a cracked marble dome in a dry ravine. It is catching light from the sun and has some metal or reflective property.
The Rangers will search for tracks and find a trail left 4 or 5 days ago, creatures of Dwarf height but less weight without boots. They looks somewhat monstrous, like Goblin feet. They seem to be traveling light and in a tight group. Sometimes they hop erratically. It seems to come from the location we are going toward and into the hills. These are not Giant Humanoids of some sort.
We head toward the dome.
It is a weathered ruin as we approach from the west, north west. The dome has merged with the earth. There is a massive crack splitting the domr in half.
We can see the sun shining down and there are some vines around the edge. There is not a single soul outside.
Omaz examines the stone crack. There is huge damage, the same sort of markings an axe would leave, but on a massive scale. It is as though several giant axes worked there way up this dome, over 1000 years ago, to intentionally split the dome open.
Xrith receives Invisibility and looks inside.
Xrith shines his light inside and sees a Huge Shrieker inside the vegetation.
We avoid disturbing the Shrieker.
We go to the other side and see that the footsteps keep going back and forth over the course of months.
Yohan and others can use their sword light. The vines are growing up inside and some are decayed. On the east side of the dome is a 25' wide tunnel inside the dome. The Broadsword of Whirlrender sheds 15' of light.
The opening is vast and made long ago through intentional digging. The Shrieker was upside down from the ceiling of the dome.
By sword light, we step into the crack and are now inside with our backs against the dome and we only see the vegetation. We head over to the hole.
We proceed forward.
In the front of the party as we step through the undergrowth, the ground falls away under Walker's feet. He drops 20' onto the ground of sharp rocks and takes 11 damage. Phantom Armor does not protect him. He takes 11 damage and the sound echoes throughout the dome.
Walker checks the bottom of the pit, which has a layer of sharp gravel. Yohan lowers Whirlrender down but before he lowers it…
In that moment, we hear a light ting of metal, echoing from the hole. It is quiet and magnified greatly.
In response to the sound, we jump into action. A battle cry comes from the hole, several monkey like voices. We hear them burst from the hole, coming into our light, they look like Halflings but they are naked and have loincloths and spears with barbs. The cave Halflings are grasping the bone spears from the barbs, causing them to become bloody.
Irayas can fire one shot in the middle. Irayas misses. Melee is joined. These weapons are 6.5 feet long. There are 9 of them. Omaz is attacked, he has AC 1/2. The spear strikes Omaz for 2 damage!
Lyo has AC 4, but they all miss. Yohan is also missed. One attack on Irayas, he is missed! 2 attacks against Mirella, one hits for 3 damage. These creatures are skilled with their bone spears.
Mirella does 4 damage, Yohan does 10 damage, killing him. Nothing special happens with the magic hammer.
Walker has climbed out of the pit.
Yohan hits one for 11 damage. Omaz hits one for 6, Yohan killed one. Walker kills one for 8 damage. Lyo hit for 1 damage, killing one!
There are 4 dead and 5 alive. Lucien kills a 5th one, coming out of invisibility, 4 left now.
Lyo unleashes Magic Missile, killing one and then another, there are now 2 alive that can attack.
Omaz is missed. Risten is stabbed for 7 damage. Mirella takes 7 damage and loses Hold Person. Xrith illuminates the entire passageway and goes in about 30', illuminating 3 openings, there are some glyphs scrawled around. It is otherwise opened. 3 tunnels, the one on the left is the widest.
They must make a Morale check. They fail and immediately run down. Mirella kills one, Walker kills the other.
Cure Lights Wounds is cast on Risten and Mirella, healing them. Walker is healed for 9 damage and is healed.
Mirella casts Find Traps.
There are glyphs carved into the tunnels, as Xrith begins reading the Glyphs, which looks perhaps like Goblin. They do not look like Goblin at all.
We head up the north passage. it stays fairly wide and breaks off into a few smaller tunnels.
We come to an area where there is blood and old bones crushed into the ground. Omaz thinks the tunnels are taking us downward. We continue to our left.
The tunnels have been dug out crudely. This tunnel ends in a dead end. Whirlrender checks for a secret door, but does not find any.
All of the tunnels are wide enough for humans. This other tunnel goes down sharply at a slope and there is a smell of sweat and blood coming from beyond.
Walker detects magic with the rod of alertness but no magic is found here.
We continue down.
We are not surprised.
The tunnel descends again and then flattens out to a rubble filled broken hallway of gray stone. The hallway curves around, we can hear chittering and scraping from somewhere beyond.
The ring is thrown and illuminates the hallway clearly. The chattering raises to a cacophony about 60' ahead of us. The chattering gets closer, over the minute, it quiets down dead silent.
Xrith looks around the corner to see what is down there. He sees a 40' area that opens up after a corridor. It is covered in trash and blood, meat that has a strong smell but it is dead silent.
Xrith goes back and informs the party what he saw. Walker pulls out his bow and we will proceed to the site of the ambush.
There is a 40' hallway that opens to a larger area. Everything is quiet, we stand in the back and start heading toward the hall. Walker throws the ring further into the room and illuminates the back wall. The floor is covered in blood and ofal, and is slick with this stuff.
There are bones all over the ground, there is a crack in the back wall, that opens to blackness. We have not gone into the room yet.
Xrith peaks around the corner and steps into the room, it illuminates a big group of 8 of the creatures, in the corner.
They are crouched low to the ground with their spears out. Xrith lets the party know whats ahead by tapping him on the left and right side.
Omaz and Yohan go left, Walker goes right. They step into the room and are upon those who entered. The Halflings charge us. Walker is in front. Xrith accompanies Walker.
Walker has AC 2/2 with a medium shield. He is attacked and 1 hit. He takes 1 damage, then another attack that does 8 damage. Using up his Phantom Armor. Yohan, Omaz and Lucien are also being attacked on the north corner. 3 attacks on Yohan, AC 0/1. Yohan is good, 2 attacks against Omaz. Lucien is at -1 and is missed.
They have AC 10, Omaz hits for 1 point, Yohan hits for 10, Walker hits for 8, killing two!
Xrith does 8 damage, killing one, Walker kills one, Yohan did 13 and killed one. Lucien hits for 4 damage.
5 attacks against the northern group. Lucien takes 8 damage which breaks his phantom armor!
Bursting from the crack come 7 more Halflings with an Alpha, with a big spear. They rush to the melee.
3 attacks against Yohan and 2 attacks on Lucien. He is missed! One attacks Walker, misses. They swarm toward the northern melee.
The Alpha goes for Omaz and misses! The other 7 attack, Lucien avoids all the bone spears! Spook goes off on the Alpha, who must save versus spells. The Alpha is effected by Spook and he begins to flee. Light goes off on one of them as it screeches.
Walker hits for 12, killing one. Omaz kills one too. Yohan hits for 9 damage, killing another. Xrith moves up.
Omaz kills one, Yohan kills one. Walker charges the leader who has AC 9, who takes 7 damage. He is heavily wounded but not dead. Magic Missile is cast, killing 2 of them.
Lucien hits with his Chromatic Orb, causing 3 damage and blinding him, killing him first though.
Morale check fails.
Xrith does 10 damage. Walker kills the leader. Yohan kills one as did Xrith. Walker kills him! They are all dead.
Lyo heals Lucien for 3 hit points. Xrith searches amongst the bones to find any treasure.
Irayas and Mirella find 2 gems in here.
We group up again and head through the crack in the wall. Through the crack is a large vault like room. The walls are clearly masoned and carved expertly. On the wall amongst the carvings of the glyphs, on the far wall is a broken relief in the middle of the wall. It depicts a beautiful scene of armored adventurers, including a halfling and a Cleric of Riswa. It is still clearly depicted and arranged in front of the relief is a throne of bones that is tied together by tendons and leather, it is halfling sized. There is nothing much else in here.
Yohan and Whirlrender detect a secret door in the center of the relief. There is no immediate way to open the relief, but Whirlrender finds a loose stone under the adventurers chin, triggering a heavy mechanism in the door. The adventurer lowers as though he was a door…It is the width of a single person.
It opens to another room, and there is an opening to the blackness and a suit of armor overlooking the pit on the ground. It is leather studded with polished ivory, suited for a man. There is a spear similar to the ones we found but without barbs, glistening like ivory. They are mounted on brass mounts.
Under the armor and spear is a pile of 20 gems. There is strong magic on both the armor and spear.
We look into the chute and see that it goes down 60' to a black bottom, moist with roots and earth. There is an arched stone door built into the north edge of the pit. Under the armor is a very fine thread that has been run through all 20 gems, as though the armor was wearing the the gems. A necklace of pearls. It is an unadorned chamber otherwise. Yohan grabs the items.
Xrith climbs down into the pit. He makes it to the bottom, it is an unadorned door, bisected in the middle. This pit and the door does not have the glyphs.
Xrith searches for traps. The door is unadorned and he looks everywhere and he realizes there is a trap. The entire door is dusted with translucent thin powder that was used to draw a magic circle on the door. He only found it through luck!
Xrith fails to disarm the trap but Irayas gets the trap! He has disabled. Yohan climbs down. Walker stays up top and keeps guard.
We try to open the door but it is locked and then Irayas gets it! The door is unlocked.
Xrith, Mirella and Yohan open the door which opens to a 10' wide chamber. The corridor goes for 30' then goes to the right, clearly it is masoned, it is covered in dust and cobwebs.
We are not surprised.
Just as we get discarded we hear a heavy, hollow echo from around the corner.
We head back to the room, through the door. The hallway had some moisture and we hear a splash from far off behind us.
There are 0 doors and 2 turns to get outside. We have made it out, after 2 hours inside.
We are ending on the 22nd at the site of the Ruins.
