We are back at camp.
The party will start on a different hex for Domain Clearing in Jacob's Domain.
We come across 3 Lions. They are surprised but we are not.
We are 12“ away.
Risten outstretches his hand and instantly the Lions heed his command and obey him. They are under complete control.
Taranis casts Speak with Animals. The Ring maintains perfect control over mammals but they are not charmed. They have 5+2 HD and there is 1 Male and two Female Lions.
Taranis tries to get the Male to come with him as a companion. The Lion has saved versus Animal Friendship and says that he has embarrased him in front of his pride.
We come across a Stag and leave it be.
There is a Wild Boar encounter. The Boar are upon us! There are 7 of them.
They have already eaten and they scamper away with their surprise. There is no encounter.
The Riders are not surprised.
There are 13 Wolves that are also not surprised. We are in the Sea of Grass and we spot them moving in a pack. They are 15” away.
The Ring has unlimited uses and the combat encounter ends. This hex is cleared.
We are on turn 2 of Hour 8 for the day.
The Riders are surprised but the Ground Party is not.
There is a new kind of Wolf…This is not a Wolf or a Dire Wolf, nor is it a Winter Wolf. Warg…
They are completely surprised. There are 9 of them!
They are 9“ away.
They have 45 HD in total so 3 Wargs are not controlled by the Ring. We are targetting the 3 not under the control.
We need to hit AC 6.
Eomiaje hits for 5 damage, Lyo hits for 5, Jacob hits for 2 and 4.
Eomiaje hits for 5 and 5, Yohan hits for 9. We did kill one of them.
All the Wargs are dead.
Jacob is going to display the heads of the Wargs to serve as a warning.
We continue with the clearing.
We rest this turn, Hour 9 Turn 1.
We rest and are now on Hour 10.
The Airborne party is not surprised.
There are 13 Wolves. Risten will use the Ring of Mammal Control.
We return back to camp.
Thalen is joining us, a Cleric.
The weather clears up in the evening and there is no storm.
The weather is still clear this morning.
Kheskhor casts Invisibility on himself and Selethede. She has her sling out by default. Eomiaje has hit bow out by default.
Mombafra is known for their walled archers.
We rest this turn.
We start back on the north east mega hex. This is turn 25.
We stumble across a Merchant Caravan associated with The Merchant's Guild, not the Silk Caravan. They are all over the Cradlelands, Hinterlands and Easterlands. They might be where the Gray Elves are and where the Ja-Dun Dwarves reside.
There are 230 Merchants.
The Merchant's Guild's stuff is cheaper but this is a 5 Good Caravan. Selethede will speak for the group. They are Neutral aligned, Humans.
They are QUITE happy with seeing us! Someone in the Caravan is a previous associate of Selethede.
Jacob purchases 200 gp of grain and foodstuffs. They do not mind being paid in electrum. The person that happens to be a Cleric of Anaera, whom Selethede previously encountered, tries to talk with Selethede.
Selethede saved this Cleric's life some time ago. He bestows a potion upon them because perhaps this potion will allow him to escape by making him small.
D10 RARE GOOD* D10 RARE GOOD* 1 Magic weapons 6 Other magic item 2 Magic armor 7 Monster 3 Magic scrolls/books 8 Monster egg 4 Magic potions 9 Monster parts or material components 5 Knowledge books 10 Myriannum
Yohan asks about the invasion to the north. They have heard of the Dwarven hold of Yaga-Kel, Xanuto is the western one. He does hear a rumor that is common knowledge, Calmetza has fallen to disrepair and ruin due to their wild nature of worship. Xanuto is abandoned and extremely dangerous. Calmetza is regularly attacked by underground monsters that rise from deep below and has many deep underground dungeons. It is through these tunnels that it is being attacked. They have not called for aid and yet their banners still fly. They fear that they have fallen in league with the Vernumites.
Calmetza and Xanuto are the others besides Yaga-Kel.
They take the offer of staying at Jacob's Domain Fortress.
This is turn 5 of Hour 4.
We are surprised for the Fliers. The Ground party is not surprised.
The encounter is Men bearing large wooden shields. There are tales of Tribesmen near Great Hill or around the Hills in the region. There are 38 of them at 14” away.
Nobody is surprised.
We lost Initiative.
When the Men spot him they hold and raise their shields. They have various hunting and battle dress. There is an entourage of guards with them and they are decked out in armor, scale perhaps. They have large wood blocks as their armor as well, like a coat. On the blocks are painted runes that look simple.
This group of Humans is Neutral.
Selethede introduces the group. This somewhat lowers the intention. They are on a hunt for Gorsin for which they must capture and perform a ritual. This is Hunting Grounds that they return to for many generations.
We tell them that we have not seen any Gorsin. They barely give a sign of acknowledgement before going on their way.
Eomiaje goes up ahead to listen what they say. He hears that they say whether to trust what they are saying. He says they will spy on us at night.
We are on Turn 4 of Hour 5.
We rest this turn.
There are Brown Bears and we are not surprised.
They are not surprised.
Risten uses the Ring of Mammal Control. We also have a Hawk so we cannot necessarily be surprised by things we can see.
The Bear is scared by the power of the ring and Eomiaje talking to it. The Bear is totally incapacitated and will leave.
Hour 6, Turn 1.
Rest.
Hour 7, Turn 2
The Airborn party would be surprised. Ground party is not.
These are Stags.
Hour 7, Turn 4.
We are not surprised.
We see, while we are about to start moving, at about a mile distance to the east, the Hippogriff Riders see a small force of 60 or so, Human, 3/4ths of them are mounted and do not have a banner. They do not have good visibility at this range.
The riders motion to the party to fall back. The Mounted Men are riding from the east to the south west and he does not get additional information, other than that they are fighting men of a sort, perhaps Highwaymen.
We are going to go fight them.
We set out in pursuit of the party and they try to escape from us. We are using the pursuit rules. They have no vehicles.
We are traveling on Light Horses, in the Hills. The hex to the east is most certainly Sea of Grass. They have a 70% chance of evading, then down to 20%.
There is a fight.
Lygan has a big black X on his magic buckler.
The Terrain is Sea of Grass. Encounter distance is 11“.
The forces are 15 Men in plate mail, most people are in leather. 1/4 are mounted, 13 Medium Horse and 15 Light Horses.
All the Plate Wearers are on Medium Horses. 8+8 counts as 9 HD. There are 30 HD of Mammals that can be controlled by the Ring.
The Leader has a second in command, with a linebacker style group of Fighters surrounding him.
We win the initiative.
They let out a great battlecry as they begin charging our front line. On segment 6, melee is met. Hold Person is 5 segments, which goes off after the melee.
Kheskhor can Sleep 8 of them which lasts 25 rounds. Risten's Ring activates and he targets the plate wearers. He targets the leader entourage. This will be 16 HD of these group and he has 12 from the other group. Risten is going to incapacitate them.
The horses immediately drop to the ground and begin seizing. The Riders will need to save or be prone, they might take 1d6 damage.
Knocked Prone?
The ones that failed take 2 and 4 damage respectively. The other men in the area continue their charge. The 6 other Guards must roll.
Four of the Guards are de-horsed and take 6, 3, 4, and 2 damage respectively. The other 2 are just de-horsed. One of the 6 is killed! NVM he is alive…Those four are currently prone.
There is a Leader and a Lieutenant. One has Atlantean Field Plate and the other has Plate. They must also save. The lieutenant passes but the Leader is flung from his horse and takes 4 damage! How embarrasing!
Two Druids are casting Entangle. 4” is the AOE, 1.3“ outside, together for 2.6” of entanglement. It is 40' x 80' of vines. They can effect approximately half of the charging men in the front lines. 27 Saves are now required due to the tandem entanglements. Only ONE SINGLE TROOP PASSES HIS SAVE! He is Slowed, movement wise. They are out of the fight for a turn.
Selethede and Kheskhor are now visible. These spells are not having a good effect on these men, though they are still charging forward. The Fighters will get sweep attacks against the enemies that are charging.
There is going to be a Morale Check? This has broken the spirits of the Brigands. They all cast down their weapons and surrender. The Classed Characters do not make Morale Checks, though.
No Melee is joined so Thalen did not lose his spell. Some of the guys are turning around and riding away. Some of the officers are panicking, picking up their swords and leaving. The Fighters are trying to guard the Leader.
Jacob and Josalyn dive the mounted Fighters and they will try to retaliate back against them. He can see that one is wearing Atlantean Field Plate, one is vibrating wildly, and the other is in plate mail. Jacob goes after the one that is vibrating but lets his Hippogriff strike first.
Josalyn must hit a 0/1 AC. Josalyn hits for 5 damage. This one tries to take out the Hippogriff, which hits…STONESKIN! Josalyn's Hippogriff attacks and misses.
Jacob's Hippogriff is attacking first…actually the guy hits with a glowing longsword, STONESKIN! Both Hippogriffs have lost their Stoneskin protection. Jacob now hits, avoiding the Displacement. He does 9 damage. Jacob's second attack goes off and he hits for 14 damage. Both Josalyn and Jacob have now landed.
Hold Person finally goes off and targets the leader, the sergeant and one of the entourage. If they fail their save they are held for 9 rounds. One fails his save and the other guy passes! One is held by the holy grasp or “good touch”.
That ends Round 1.
The Men-at-arms have all surrendered. The leader and the others are trying to get away.
So far we have not seen a Cleric and the Leader is about 11“ back.
We lose initiative.
Someone appears out of invisibility in a red and black robe. It is ridiculously decorated with gaudiness, he looks like he is on fire. He appears 5” from the Leader in the opposite direction. He is casting a spell.
On segment 2, melee blows are exchanged. The one in displacement misses with a glowing longsword. Josalyn has a regular longsword wielder against her and he misses. Eomiaje is going after the one fleeing.
All of the prone guys are getting on their horses now. There is a Morale Check for the horses, which they fail. The Horses are all running away in the direction that they came from.
They notice that the leader and the other guys are vibrating and then one of them drops to the ground lifeless.
Risten casts Magic Missile on the spellcaster, doing 15 damage total to him. The missiles blast him for full effect but he is still alive!
Jacob and Josalyn attack. Jacob hits for 13 damage but his Hippogriff misses. Josalyn does 10 and 10 damage and the Full Plate wearer is still alive.
That concludes round 2.
It must be noted that we actually did NOT see the resplendent Magic-User because he did not break his invisibility. It is assumed we know there is a Magic-User among them that we have not seen yet.
