We had collected a bunch of treasure last session. If we were in the battle with the Red Rider with the flail, we are fully healed by Divine Intervention.
We are leaving the silver sconces behind. We do manage to take some. There was no coin pouch contrary to what we thought.
Voltendo, Fothas and Elithra are on doors.
We are surprised (1).
We leave and head toward the statue in the center. We are suddenly leapt upon by both the left and right by Huge Toad Creatures!
Voltendo is being attack since he is the one in the front line. 6 creatures attack Voltendo. He has AC 3 and he has no Protection from Evil. Two hits with heavy jaws for 3 damage and 6 damage. The other two are rear attacks, he is hit for 7 damage with a bite.
Voltendo is still alive! He sees that these are a cross between Giant Toads and Humans, like a weird crossbread. They were bangles and jewelry. They ravenously attack Voltendo. There are 10 of the Toad people.
Lucien gets +2 for his Dex Reaction and shoots first! Must hit AC 6. One hit Voltendo for 3 damage. Voltendo goes down!
Xrith, Darvan and 2 on Lucien are attacked.
Lucien takes 4 damage and 4 damage for 8 total. One attack on Darvan who has AC 6 and is hit on a 10. Xrith is missed. Elithra cannot fire due to us all being in melee.
The Fear spell cast but some are in melee with us. He can target the 6 that were on Voltendo. The 6 Giant Toad/Humans must save, 5 of them are now Feared!
Darvan fails to hide in shadows. Fothas hits for 14 damage. The Giant Toads flee and the ones in the front flee. All of the Frogs flee! Elithra hits for 4 damage.
The Frogs all flee.
Fothas tries both keys on the stone door, which is opened by Key ID 74.
Xrith, Fothas and Elithra are now on doors.
Inside of the room are 5 glass cylinders built on to metal disks. They look like capsules. One is at the end of the room and the others are placed around the room. To our left inside the glass container, which is 4“ in width is a single man in no armor with short black hair. He appears to be Held. The container is air tight but the metal disk has a metal button on the ring.
The other capsules look the same. The one on the end has a white horse where it is reared up on its hind legs. There is a black swirl, twisting, on it that reminds us of the Gloom stretching from the Isomi stone in the south. It is frozen and reared black legs. There is a black swirl over its heart.
In the fifth one is a feathered serpent.
We wait for Voltendo to regain consciousness. Elithra will pick up Voltendo's spear before he wakes up. It will be better than her rapier.
Time passes, after a full hour Voltendo awakes. Nothing has come for us in here.
When Voltendo comes to, he sees the image of his horse in the capsule. Voltendo presses the button for the horse to get out. He must save versus magic. Voltendo fails the save. Suddenly a weird noise, then he changes place with the white Horse. Voltendo is now unconscious again.
Elithra pushes the button to switch with Voltendo. She can roll a save versus magic or purposely fail. Voltendo lands on the ground again and sees Elithra inside the capsule who is frozen. Voltendo can instantly tell that the horse will die in a minute, it is crying out for its heart.
The Horse is intelligent and it swaps with Elithra so ends up inside the capsule.
We go back to the hallway, there is a panel on the Mechanical Horse. Xrith removes the panel and sees a beating heart in the horse. He is in a weakened state but Voltendo could do it. Voltendo will try to remove the heart from the Horse like he is defusing a bomb. In Voltendo's hand he feels the beating heart and carries a fragile egg where he takes it to the capsule.
Elithra switches with the Horse again and Voltendo must save versus magic to replace the heart due to his weakened state. Voltendo fails his save and feels as though something is preventing the heart from transferring. Xrith switches with Elithra and is now captured in the capsule.
The regular horse is laying there. As a result of the trial, the Horse has a +2 to saves against Demons along with the Rider.
Fothas will try to press the button for Xrith and now Fothas is trapped in the tube. Darvan presses it and his form shifts rapidly, the contents are returned.
Voltendo's Horse does not know the man in the capsule but remembers the group that was present. Many creatures of Law and Good. The Couatl that we see was brought here at the same time.
Fothas tries to let the Couatl out. The Dwarf is now in a different tube and the Feathered Serpent is struggling to stay aloft. It is a resplendent jewel and we sense its cosmos. Voltendo greets the Couatl and gets a 96 reacion.
Fothas and himself are champions of law and asks the Couatl to free our friend, Fothas, from the tube since he has the best chance.
The Couatl says, “In freeing me and the Noble Steed, they have undone a deed that happened many centuries ago. It is blessed with abilities that can heal”.
Xrith pulls out the bodies and the Couatl has the ability to Neutralize Poison. It will neutralize the poison in our companions but cannot restore them to life.
Lucien needs healing and the Couatl uses its psionic power to heal him. The Couatl casts a Healing spell and heals 12 damage. With a flick of its tail, the Couatl frees Fothas and he appears here. The Couatl does not know the man in the tube but will divine the answer.
Xrith retrieves the Chandelier from outside and puts it into the Bag of Holding.
Suddenly there is a disintegration of the air around us. We are teleported outside and somewhere outside of the crack in the earth. At this site long ago, there was an encampment of holy men at this site. The place where we were lies someplace to the south.
Xrith asks the Couatl's name and it is “Af'lus-chtal”. It says it will depart to go meditate and Voltendo and Elithra will bow to the Couatl, as does the rest of us. It disappears behind us.
We find our Horses waiting outside. We are rejoined.
The Stone Temple is not moving now but it has risen again.
We spent 1 movement point to get here originally and spent half the day. We can go through two hills and camp south east of the marshland.
Travel is fine.
The weather is cloudy. We will go through the plains. Lucien casts Invisibility on himself.
We get to the hex south of Apefang Maw. There were no settlements in the plains or scrub we pass through.
It begins to rain…
There is a potential encounter on the 2nd watch.
We are not surprised (5). But we have surprised something…
With our campfire low in the night, our second watch party that something off in the distance is moving in the hills. There are decades or scores of small humanoid creatures moving over the hill. They have noticed our encampment but they are at a distance of 16”.
By the time we wake up everyone and put out the fire, nothing is seen as it moves over the hill.
It is raining hard. We will take a movement penalty and not be able to reach Great Hill unless we force march. There is no penalty during the forced march if we have an encounter. Darvan takes Phantom Armor today.
The Hippogriff Rider, Xrith, is not surprised.
He sees in the distance approximately 2 miles to the south west, some 250 men traveling in a large group. They have War Horses and are armored. They are traveling to the north east coming from the south.
Xrith goes to fly out to get a better look. After about halfway of the distance, they fly the colors of Rook. Xrith flies down to introduce himself.
He is welcomed by the group of Rook Dervishes. Xrith greets them and they do have a Cleric of Rook that are capable of Raising the Dead. The Dervishes will perform raises on our dead. They will perform the Raises as a way of contributing to our quest! It will be in Rook's name! Voltendo and Elithra tell the Dervishes of Rook of our accomplishment and defeating the leader of the evil temple.
The Dervishes are enthralled by the armor and fall to their knees about the power. They will take the shattered helmet that was destroyed by the power of Rook. They heal all our wounds and will raise our allies…
Yohan is brought back from the dead, he receives 1,000 xp and receives Whirlrender. Lyo is brought back as well! PRAISE ROOK!
Lyo receives 1,000 xp and he considers changing his religion to Rook, though he could be smitten instantly.
They offer to encamp with us here and then escort us back to Great Hill.
Xrith asks their name in order to spread the good deed of their group and their leader. Voltendo gives them a 700 gp gem and bestow Voltendo with a healing potion (id 282)
The leader is called Jesketh of Rook.
Cosmically, we have had many divine activities.
The rain still comes down hard and we arrive in Great Hill with the Dervishes who then take their leave.
In Great Hill, he offers to pay magic for a breeding pair of Giant Goats. Fothas is Lawful Good and takes -15. They want more than this item for the Goats. Potion id 261 is also offered, which may heal their warriors and they accept for one pair of Giant Goats.
Nodo the Quick is the one who provides us with a breeding pair of Giant Goats.
It is still raining but we can make it to Relomo. Voltendo will remain behind for bedrest.
Yohan has Phantom Armor and Xrith is now invisible thanks to Lucien. Darvan will get invisibility tomorrow.
In the heavy rain, we rethink travel, and remain in Great Hill.
It stops raining in the evening…
Invisibility is gone from Xrith but Phantom Armor is cast on Lyo.
Travel to Elir today is uneventful. We pass the Thorpe of Elir and in the morning, the weather is cloudy.
We will travel to Starling. We make it fine and the cloudy weather clears up.
Everyone has Phantom Armor and we make it to Starling. We will split treasure here.
The furs are worth 3d10 x 10: 80 gp, 100 gp and 110 gp…the other stack is worth 200 pp.
Golden Chandeliers with spinels are 1,250 gp each. Josalyn will buy them for 2,500 gp.
The gem encrusted sticks are worth 1000 gp.
Short Sword is strong magic, the potion is weak magic. The spyglass is 150 gp. 16 sconces are 800 gp.
Strong magic on the ring, the armor is Atlantean AC 1/1, there are 8 magic bolts. The gauntlets have razor blades and have +1 to fist damage. The Morning Star is magic.
The 12 boxes are not magical and they contain 12 types of tea, each box is possible worth platinum or silver. They are all silver so they are worth 141 sp.
The gem is worth 1,200 gp! It is a Nixie's Mirror gem. The Jade Earring is worth 1,900 gp. The Armlets are 2,500 gp each, inlaid with zircons.
Thalen was with us on the previous session so we must include him for some of the treasure.
Yohan and Xrith pair off and test out the weapons, Short Sword +2 and Morningstar +2.
Darvan tries out the ring. He does not have any bonus to defense.
We get an offer of 1650 gp for the armor.

We have a lead on the Stone Cube and on the Grave Grip Gang. He was asking about Falavor and someone sold his body to a tribe up north. Klort was the one who heard the rumor. He was also trying to establish where the Stone Cube ended up, killing Klort, Falavor, two of them died in the basement. Those guys were involved with Grave Grip. It was at a Temple in Mombafra, they tried to rob it and everyone died except Darvan. They think the Temple sold the body to the people up north. It was Mofastas, a demigod of Bel. Buck the Knife was a guy that had rumors. The entrance to the Grave Grip Gang is in the quarter, they have run afoul of both groups and have enough members to be tolerated.
The Wednesday group is new the entrance to the Badlands where we have entered a swamp. That session is paused.
