This is the continuation of the Valley of the Red Sun basin for the Temple of Mote.
We are currently in Starling and had to wait for a few characters to train. No spells or preparations needed.
Today is heavy rain. This means it will be double movement points so 6 points to get there. We will travel north to the Tower of the Forgotten Master. We find that the lord has raised the garrison to 250 plus officers and the guards are on edge. They have no seen any sign of the Forgotten Master and the Tower is restricted. They have begun work on a wooden palisade that is 80% complete along with a huge number of porters and laborers.
Has the Lord done any reconnaisance at Castle Wayd? They have not seen any new armies or additional organized activity in that area. They have not gone much further west past Castle Wayd's castle. No Orcs or Hobgoblins are seen at Castle Wayd itself, just Lord Wayd's normal troops. The news of an attack on a Valley by the Forgotten Master is new to the people so they have just started reconnaisance.
Ynfrin the Mage joins us at the Tower of the Forgotten Master.
We headed north 5 miles to a basin and Inferin buys a Warhorse. Starling has not boomed like Gren has, but there are lot more people trading there and people are moving to the hamlets like Trawis which are growing.
The next morning the weather has cleared up and we arrive at the Basin. Inferin has cast invisibility. Nothing else has changed since we were last present. The dust storm in the door is still going on. Yellow smog is getting blown out.
We go into the cave with the bear and the cubs. Yohan and Eomiaje looks for tracks around the caves. We both agree that multiple bear cubs have returned to the caves.
Mirella has continual light. Yohan has a glowing sword. We continue into the back of the cave.
Eomiaje sees the two cubs and gives them some rations. He tries to talk to them and offers to let them come with him. They say they would not like to join the person who killed their mother. Eomiaje gives them more rations and says that he understands.
We search the walls. There is a hollow portion found by Omaz the Dwarf and Eomiaje joins him. The pool was stagnant and nothing inside. We try to help Omaz with the secret door on the wall. After a turn, we do not find a way to open the secret door.
Klort pulls out the cube and is able to enter the stone. He sticks his head through and sees only darkness. Eomiaje lights up a torch and Klort walks through completely.
Illuminated by the torch is a 4' wide natural stone passageway going to the west. On the wall to the right is an iron lever that is in the up position. He pushes it down and the stone on the wall moves open. We all pass through the secret door. Eventually we find the end of a passage and another lever.
Omaz moves the lever to the opposite position and the wall grinds open once again.
We find a cave with a 15' high ceiling and are standing in an elevated area. There are two elevation changes. We can see steps that go up to another door and steps going down in the south west. There is a big stone slab on the elevated area. There are no markings on the slab however it is stained with a darker color. It has run down all the sides of the slab creating streams that run down. The stains look very very old. Along the back wall are carvings depicting sacrifices, men being killed with knives and a person being killed by a boulder. There are also robed figures on the carvings observing. There is a nude woman with a dagger dripping a substance. She looks more beautiful than a Harpy.
We are not surprised.
As we observe, we notice that the rubble has begun to tremble gradually and then violently.
Shots and turning will go off at the same time. For turning she needs to get Ghoul. She succeeds in turning 4 of the creatures.
There are 11 attacks as the rocks fly straight toward our party. There are 6 of us that are targets.
One on Eomiaje, he is missed.
Two on Mirella, two misses.
Yohan is hit 3 times.
The 2 attacks on Klort miss.
Omaz is also missed twice.
Yohan is hit again! He must save versus fear effect 4 times with Wisdom bonus. He failed twice. The rocks are flying on their own accord. There is a terrible anger in the air and Mirella can sense something.
Klort makes the sign of a holy symbol. Eomiaje strikes at the door as his arrows hit the door.
Mirella turns up to Wights and turns 10 of them.
One attack on Omaz but he blocks the rocks. Yohan begins to run in fear. Yohan tries to go down.
Omaz manages to hold Yohan this round and is trying to break free from him.
Eomiaje and Klort finds that the door is locked.
We are still in combat.
Mirella has now turned 5 of these. Finally all of the rocks have stopped moving, though Yohan is fleeing in terror. Omaz stops to pick up Whirlrender and the shield.
At the bottom of the stairs a path goes left and a path goes right. We go running around at a bend and are running along a stream. We chase after Yohan.
We are not surprised.
Eomiaje sees something tall hiding around the corner. Yohan flees directly into what we found.
Omaz can see two tall creatures hiding in the corner. Yohan is still running and screaming.
Save versus paralysis to hold Yohan. Omaz and Yohan must roll opposed strength. Omaz gets it!
We enter a larger area this fills with a pool. There are two creatures that are 9' tall with goblin visage that are completely made of ice!
The claws come down inches from Yohan's face. Mirella tries to turn them.
Mirella charges up, Eomiaje misses and Omaz hits but does no damage.
One attack on Eomiaje and Omaz. Eomiaje is missed. Omaz has a -3 but is missed. Magic Missiles go off for 7 and then 3 damage for both spells. They destroy both of the creatures which shatter!
Mirella did 3 damage.
We can see farther down the steps into a side cavern that descends into a room and then turns left into places unknown.
We hear several sounds of heavy footsteps of something running in our direction. Klort melts a bunch of the ice. They begin hopping along the ground. We melt the other pieces as they continue hopping toward the water. Klort melts them. A bunch more of these creatures come running around the corner.
There are 13 of them.
Magic Missiles go off first and 2 targets take 2 and another takes 2 damage.
The Ice Trolls collide with us. They can only be hit by magical weapons and fire. 2d3 doubled for a torch damage. Eomiaje and Omaz both miss.
13 attacks on 3 characters. Ynfrin is no longer invisible. Omaz is small so 2 will go on him. 4 will go on Eomiaje. 4 on Mirella. 3 go for Klort and Ynfrin.
Omaz does 11 damage to one, which kills one!
2 creatures make it to Klort and Ynfrin, both on Klort!
Klort is hit for 7 and 3 damage and then drops. Ynfrin is hit for 12 damage and is at -3. Both of them are DOWN!
2 on Omaz who has AC -3, all missed.
Eomiaje has AC -4, he is hit for 5 damage.
There are 5 attacks on Mirella. She takes 15 damage and drops to -3 hitpoints! Mirella is DOWN!
The Shattered Ice on the ground is going toward the water.
Eomiaje destroys one that was jumping toward the pool and Omaz misses. Klort and Ynfrin are being dragged into a cave.
There is one hit on Omaz for 2 damage.
Eomiaje is missed. Yohan is still affected by the fear effect.
Omaz is attacked, one hit and two more hits for 1, 3 and 1 for 5 total damage.
Eomiaje is missed this time. We both miss.
Some of the Ice Trolls try to reach down at Yohan to grab him and they will try to cower or run forward. They are trying to pluck him up and get a grip on him.
We miss the trolls again. The other trolls are hanging on to the bodies.
No hits on Omaz and no hits on Eomiaje.
Some of the Trolls shout something and stop trying to grab him and they disengage from combat.
Attacks on Eomiaje is hit by 2 hits. He takes 4 damage.
Omaz hits for 9, which kills one.
Yohan is still feared.
Eomiaje burns the troll that was shattered.
Two Ice Trolls go running off around the corner.
Omaz is hit for 4 damage.
Eomiaje is hit twice for 9 damage but destroyes the shattered troll.
Omaz hits again for 7 damage. It does not die.
One Troll tries to grab Yohan. He succeeds and grabs Yohan to carry him away. Opposed strength roll and the Troll wins. Yohan is dragged off.
One hit on Omaz for 1 damage and another hit for 4 damage.
Two hits on Eomiaje for 7 damage.
We continue attacking but Mirella says a prayer to Venha. She needs a 12 to get Divine Intervention and Mirella SUCCEEDS! An incredible light arises from Whirlrender and she can feel water dripping into her armor.
Suddenly all the Trolls turn to STEAM!
Everyone ceased bleeding, Yohan is currently missing but he comes to consciousness and has vague feelings of running and evil. He has images of being sacrificed. he felt as though all sacrifices were in that chamber we found. He can hear in the distance the movements of our armor and is laying in a chamber that is 45' wide which is surrounded by torches in the wall, only 2 of them so the room is dim. There is an elevated area to one side of us with a big stone slab that has words.
Yohan grabs a torch and makes his way back to us. He returns to us and we see that Yohan now has his wits.
One of the Trolls was wearing a cloak made of tiger hide. Each of the trolls have pouches.
Through all of the area is a stream the flows through. Eomiaje puts on the Tiger Cloak.
All of our characters are now conscious and we will try to hurry out.
It will take us 2 turns to get up. We manage to get out to the basin successfully.
Back in Starling.
The mortal wounds are healing at an incredibly fast rate! In the morning we find that the wounds have healed quite a lot. This one day will allow us to return to adventure. The fallen characters must take a scar.
Magic Cloaks only work with no armor or leather armor.
Tiger Hide Cloak goes to Klort (id 215).

Whirlrender goes to Fothas.
Yohan departs and Oswald joins.
The next day is cloudy and we make it back to the basin without incident.
We are standing in front of the dust storm entrance. Oswald manages to cast Dispel Magic on the storm and all of the rocks drop to the ground and the yellow smog steadily streams out of the passage and rises to the sky, creating a yellow chimney.
There is a marking in coal on the wall that looks like magic symbols but are not glowing. They are about 4' high from the ground. The water is clear and looks about 3' deep. We see some stairs going down towards a door.
Oswald casts Find Traps. The western symbol has a Trap on it but Dispel Magic may have effected it. But no the Glyph itself is trapped and it is safe to walk through. We dont see any disturbances around the symbol. Fothas does not think either side of the passageway moves. On close inspection is an almost invisible glyph on top of the coal marking. The coal marking is not related to the magic symbol. The coal marking looks like it was made in the past couple of weeks.
Fothas asks Whirlrender about if this is a symbol of Sleal but the sword can Detect Magic. The only magic in the area is on the glyph and no magic on either coal markings. Whirlrender does not know what they are. The symbols are not arcane in nature and not recognizable to Magic-Users.
RETCON = Whirlrender CANNOT Detect Magic.
We bypass the glyphs as we go past the stream and the smoke is coming from beyond and from the door. The archway is lined with aggresive looking runes. The door is also made of stone. There is yellow smog coming out from all sides of the door. It mixes with the smog in the passageway.
With Oswalds spell he can detect some sort trap presence in the doorway but it does not reveal what the source is. It is an unusual force. Eomiaje searches around the runed door with Oswald.
The Locate Object of Whirlrender does not detect anything, like a button or switch nor does he find a lever.
The Clerics can tell that the runes on the stone archway are Devil-ish in origin. Whirlrender does not want to talk to Fothas about the gems and metals that he asks him about.
We continue on…
After we turn to head down the stairs, we hear the shifting of metal on stone as something is moving up ahead.
We get well into position as a bunch of Hobgoblins come in. There are 12 of them and 8 purple figures. They move in unison with the Hobgoblins.
Oswald does not affect the Hobgoblins or Purple Humanoid Silhouettes.
The Hobgoblins have a polearm - Awl Pikes, nvm these are too large. Lances would also not work. But they get a Hook Fauchard.
The Hobgoblins attack first. Eomiaje, Fothas and Oswald are in front.
There are 5 attacks on Oswald. He has AC 2. 1 hit for 3 damage.
Fothas is only attacked by 4 of them. No hits!
Eomiaje is attacked by 3 and they all miss!
Hobgoblins have AC 5/5 and the Purple things have AC 10.
Eomiaje did 8 damage to a Hobgoblin and kills it. Fothas destroys one of the Purple figures!
3 of the Purple things surround Eomiaje, who now has AC 7 against them. He takes 3 hits. He feels a pain and takes 14 damage. Omaz has AC 5 against these creatures.
Omaz is hit twice and takes 7 damage.
5 Hobgoblins on Oswald, 2 hits and he takes 3 damage. Fothas is hit for 3 damage.
Eomiaje defends against the Hobgoblins using his shield. One purple creature hits for 4 damage.
Omaz takes 7 damage.
Holy water does not affect the creatures which Eomiaje splashed on them.
Fothas auto hits AC 10 for 11 damage. This destroys one of the purple creatures.
Magic Missiles each hit a Purple Creature for 10 and 3. But they have Magic Resistance. Both are resisted!
Oswald hits a purple thing for 5 damage, Fothas obliterates one!
There are 5 Purple silhouettes remaining. Magic Missile hits for 4 and 5 against separate targets.
2 Hobgoblins attack Eomiaje and miss. 3 Hobgoblins on Fothas. all miss. Oswald is hit by one for 3 damage. 3 attacks on Omaz all miss!
1 attack on Eomiaje for 1 damage.
Omaz is missed. Oswald is hit for 6 damage.
Klort has retreated
Fothas destroys a Purple figure.
Oswald hit for 8 damage and does not kill one. There are 4 purple figures left.
2 Hobgoblins attack Eomiaje and miss.
4 Hobgoblins attack Fothas and hit twice for 1 and 4 damage.
2 attacks on Oswald who is hit for 3 damage.
2 more attacks on Omaz and he takes 4 damage. OMAZ GOES DOWN!
Eomiaje is missed by a purple creature.
One on Oswald hits for 6 damage.
One more on Eomiaje misses.
Oswald takes 2 more damage.
Fothas says “So I hear you are some sort of Devils, lets make a deal?” They do not accept.
Eomiaje hits one but it is not destroyed. Oswald does destroy one.
There are 11 Hobgoblins.
2 miss Eomiaje and 2 miss Fothas. Oswald is maxed out on Hobgoblins. He is hit and takes 3 damage.
Another attack on Fothas which misses.
3 Purple Creatures attack.
2 attacks on Eomiaje, one hit for 1 damage.
Omaz loses 1 hitpoint.
Eomiaje hits for 10 damage and Fothas kills one. Oswald kills one too!
Fothas takes 3 damage and Oswald takes 5 damage.
2 attacks on Eomiaje 1 hit on Eomiaje, he drops to 0 hit point. HE IS DOWN!
Oswald takes 4 damage.
Omaz loses 1 hitpoint.
Fothas obliterates the last purple figure! Oswald hits a Hobgoblin for 5 damage.
One hit on Oswald for 4 damage, he drops to -3 hitpoints and is DOWN!
4 attacks on Fothas as the only remaining one, all miss but Forthas hits for 12 damage which kills one.
Fothas hits another one for 12 damage which kills another one and all attacks miss him.
Omaz is at -6 hp. Eomiaje is at -3. Oswald is at -6.
Fothas hits one this time for 11 damage, killing another Hobgoblin.
Fothas does 12 damage killing one.
Fothas tries to stabilize Omaz now instead.
Omaz is bound.
Fothas binds Oswald. All the attacks miss Fothas.
Eomiaje is at -7 and is bound this round.
The remaining Hobgoblins try to grapple Fothas. He fends off the 3 Hobgoblins.
They continue trying to grapple but Fothas misses his retaliation attack. Fothas does 11 damage to one and kills it.
A rear attack hits Fothas for 2 damage.
Two of them grab Eomiaje and Omaz and start dragging their bodies. Fothas does not follow them.
Fothas hits for 11 damage, destroys one.
3 attacks on Fothas miss and Fothas misses.
All miss against Fothas again and he hits for 13.
The two Hobgoblins stop dragging bodies and go to engage with Fothas in melee.
Fothas deals 12 damage and now there are only 2 left.
He misses the next round.
Fothas hits for 15, killing one.
Eventually, Fothas kills all of them!
Oswald is mortally wounded meaning that he is unconscious for a while.
Fothas yells out and says “Hey cowards, come and help with the bodies.”
The Hobgoblins have 12 pouches.
Fothas drags out our bodies and we head back to Starling.
Whirlrender feels that he likes this fight.

Eomiaje pays 300 gp in upkeep and has a parasite and a disease.
We are on bedrest until the 20th.
Eomiaje has avoided the disease due to his CON. Parasite is a skin hair parasite but it doesnt cause any harm. Lice!
Yohan also caught a disease.
Eomiaje is at Level 3 Thief and is on bedrest
He can adventure again on 5/28.
He pays 2000 gp in gems for training and takes out a loan for 1000 gp.
It was considered a 70 unit Bandit Camp in the other session we will get 63.6% of the treasure.
In other news, Delemir was dead and never raised. We are trying to recover the items he had. Maervahr will attempt to do this.
