Mercs in Starling:
Men at arms are available 1/week by spending 1d3 hours in a tavern. It is not possible to hire just one Merc if they are rolled as a group.
We head out going north to Elir and then will go to Great Hill. NVM, we will not…
The Ogre Magi we found are up by Elir.
We are going back to the Meadow Tomb to disable a trap and check for treasure.
Keisial's Heavy War Horse goes to Ragnar, the Ranger, as part of his inheritance based on Keisial's will.
The weather is clear and we leave in the morning, heading south west, on the edge of the meadow where the top of the tomb is exposed.
Bron has a Continual Light Coin and there are no magic weapons among us!
Timbraun tries to experiment with the magic hat. He tries to pull out a rabbit but nothing comes out, objects placed in the hat are normal. Timbraun cannot see distant places by will alone. The hat has an embroidery of a spiral thread that is dark blue. The hat itself is a medium blue tone.
Bron and Yohan are on doors. Both have 1-3 chance.
Risten casts Invisibility on himself.
We got through both doors. Everything looks the same as we left it and it is quiet. We go south past the looted burials to get to the altar.
We make it to the crescent shaped altar that has the crescent shape with 2 fangs on it. Everything looks the same as we left it.
Irayas tries to Remove Traps, his roll of 69 fails.
The eye slits are set in, angled down rectangles. The set in part has a thin hairline separation from the edges of the eye. The fangs stick out from the face.
Bron gathers up enough wax remnants to put a thin layer of wax on the eyes. Bron completely seals up the eyes and will pull on the fangs.
He pulls on the fangs and the whole open mouth slides out with a stone grinding noise pulls out for several feet.
We go to the north west alcove to check again for any secret doors. After 10 minutes we do not find anything. Phineas budges it but it seems solid. After a half hour, we do not find anything in the alcove.
We go up to another alcove on the upper level. We search it for 10 minutes and do not find hear anything at all.
We leave the dungeon and go set up camp.
The night goes by without incident. The next day the weather is still clear. North hex the plains become a scrubland.
The hext to the south west and north are both hills. Scrubland is all connected. There are no structures here. 5 mile hexes. We didnt find anything else.
We head north from here toward Castle Wayd and Elir, where we will turn north east to reach Elir.
We end the day in the Scrublands west of the Monastary of the Red Sun, in some Scrublands.
3 people are awake at a given time. Ragnar, Yohan and Phineas are awake.
We are not surprised. While the rangers are keeping watch, they spot a moving shape slithering along the ground in the distance, it is 15' long, winding through the scrubland. Probably not more than a couple feet tall. Going laterally to us, not in our direction.
Distance is 16“ away.
Yohan keeps his eyes on it and does not attack. Phineas and Ragnar watch it pass by.
We start heading north. We make it to Elir without incident. Cloudy in the evening, it is cloudy again. We make it to Elir and they are fine with us setting up camp.
We will make for Relomo. Relomo will sell us stuff for an extra 50% of normal price. They are just a small Thorpe.
The people in Relomo have heard of dragons in the mountains. They know they are all relatives of the ancient dragons. Those dragons live further north. They eschew the two dragons we slew. There are still more Red Dragons in these mountains. This ancient red dragon was the patriarch.
We continue to Great Hill.
Not surprised.
We leave Relomo and as we travel through the Sea of Grass, we encounter another party. We are actually in the Sea of Grass. At a distant of 13” we spot a large forest of 120 orcs headed into the marsh. They have a banner that is crude.
Half of the Orcs have large polearms and we surprised them. Their banner has a grotesque face with a white tongue with a sickly gray brown mouth. Like the Rolling Stones symbol.
We bypass them and make it to Great Hill.
We make it to Great Hill and the weather is still clear.
Great Hill is a big hill with grass and mud huts. The Chief (Balgigo) says there has not much great news here. They have had sparring with two separate Orc tribes. Tribes are competing for land.
The banner we saw is one of the tribes whereas the other Orcs cake their stomachs with the blood of their kill.
We once encountered the Shattered Fang which was west of Starling.
They have only had some skirmishes with them, but they have not been attacked yet. Just their hunters. They are located to the East of Great Hill. Blood Belly tribe is to the North East. and the Blighted Tongue tribe is to the southwest. The people are not concerned with the orcs though.
No attacks from dragons since the last big one when we last visited. Yohan describes the story and we did not describe to them before what happened. They say that if we can prove that we slew the pariahs, then they will be in our good favor.
These are Tribesmen that live in huts, they are not druids. They are witch doctors but not monsters. Full selection of druid spells.
Relomo is a regular hamlet of non-tribesmen. Great Hill is independent tribe.
Apefang Maw, the Doompaw was slain, and they think Apefang Maw is defeated. Bron knows this. Adventurers have passed through here multiple times. People travel north all times of the year.
Chief Balgigo is confused about Aux Test Facility but Noto the Quick changes his face expression and he knows something.
There is no chance to detect ESP. We camp out in Great Hill to memorize ESP to read Noto the Quick's mind when we ask about the Aux Test Facility and the automoton.
Risten will read his thoughts from outside. Bron talks to him. He is very stern and tight lipped about the Aux Test Facility but the history of this land his ancestors interest him. He wants to find history of the place to benefit his traditions. He asks if we have recovered any items.
Bron picks up from this guy that he is having inner emotions and excitement. He is a powerful witch doctor. There is something off about him. He says he doesnt know anything about such technologies or weird devices. It is not his expertise. Only interested in the dangers around Great Hill. Or any artifacts or remnants, his ancestors, for Great Hill.
What sort of items should he look for? Hes interested in smaller devices or unusual craft weirdly built things, intracacy and things to discover. Complex devices. He has not seen them
Risten was lying about not knowing about these devices. Several complicated thoughts during the conversation. Thinking of some sort of Great Machine. Wondered if we were spys. Telfa and Wagna were guarding the entrance. Key they were waiting for. Risten can tell that he was picturing two witch doctors and some fighters inside of a dark hut. The hut is somewhere nearby. Risten picks out one of the huts on the north side. There are 4 warriors with weapons outside. Risten also got imagery of a stair going down into the rock. Great device of metal, glass and brass with crystal gems, all combined with steel. Like a hulking machine of 25' tall. Shaped like a mound of machinery, surrounded by a steel platform.
There were tribesmen down there moving around the machine. Also pictured non-descript hallways and chambers. It is a place he has been to. He was picturing it in his mind. He posted guards at the site. This place is not the Aux Test Facility.
The populat is 60 tribesmen, 20 druids, 20 slaves, 60 women and children…Smaller than that due to dragon attack from last summer.
We will go to Ape Fang Maw on the next day after Invisibility is re-memorized.
Today is raining and cloudy and it is Heavy Rain. Travel will be at half speed and take a penalty to missiles.
Keisial's money was on her horse. 131 pp and 7 silver arrows! Ragnar gets all of it.
The people of Great Hill only use Giant Goats in battle. They will allow him to have a light horse instead with his heavy warhorse as collateral.

Next day the weather clears up. We can take the hills to reveal some hexes. Revealing hexes. North East is Forest, South East is Hills, next to the hills is the edge of a small lake.
We go to Apefang Maw.
We have arrived at Apefang Maw. Distance is 14“.
There is an encampment of Orcs, 39 of them. Camping right outside the entrance to Apefang Maw. No banners but they do have blood on their bellies.
Blood Belly Tribe has taken over Apefang Maw…
We avoid them.
Going to camping. Weather is clear. No encounters so we head to Aux Test Facility. We reveal the hexes south and east of Test Facility number 3. There is a lake nearby and more hills.
There was a sign outside of the Test Facility that named it. It was inside of the Dungeon. We once killed the 4 Headed Ettin here. No activity seen outside the cave entrance. There is a depression on the side of a hill, but there is a cave mouth that cannot be seen from the land unless we know where it was.
Several objects that we took from here: Silver Rectangle 4” x 3“ only a few mm thick. Yellow sheen to it. We also found another one with a red sheen to it, just like it. We found some other stuff too.
The other thing we never figured out but we did get a steel tablet with a strange language on it. There was a black case that was opened, like 3 large ring cases. If we lined up 3 of them. It was velvet lined. Something was missing. Imprint was like a circle with an extended part in the case. It does look like a mold but its lined with velvet.
In the back of the lair are some steps going up. There are streams running off into the pool. There is a cave opening where some strange with green vegetation hangs from an opening in the rock.
There is a large long iron chest, open and empty. On a dry island is a bunch of loose copper
The sacks next to the copper are full. Both full of copper.
This was a DL 3 quest a long time ago.
There is a metal plaque in the alcove that says

Timbraun checks for secret doors. Does not find anything new.
The plaque seems firmly bolted. The language is in common. After severing, last 500 years old.
There is another sign on the door that says:

Bron and Yohan try to open the door. We get it after 4 tries.
We come into a long hall. Inside the hall are two big stone pillars. The north pillar has an archery target carved into the south face. Like a bullseye. It is pocked in thousands of small indentations, at 1/2” deep. The South column has a hanging steel plaque that has another target depicted. Not as deep pocks. Inside of the alcoves, of which are 3 are little metal holders, photo frame style. 1' in length. Left bottom alcove was dug in from. They are alcoves with shelves.
Metal holders are on the shelves.
There is a tunnel going beyond. In the other alcove is a large shield inside of the holder.
Next to the door we came into is a stell handle on the wall, could be pulled downward. At the same time we come into the room.
The entire room is illuminated with globes of light in the corners of the room. Floating by the 15' ceiling, but after we open the door there is a red color and there is a loud horn noise, then it stops.
There are pock marks all over the place. The stone door swings shut behind us then the globes turn white light again.
The south east alcove is holding a large shield. Yohan grabs the shield. Its a kite shield +1
We go for the south door.
We are not surprised. As we get toward the door on the map, two hidden panels open on the ceiling, they are about 3' tall panels and 1' long. They flap open and a cylinder thing pops out. 2' diameter metal cylinder disks with a bunch of little metal legs all around the rim of it. It crawls down the stone wall. There is a yellow bar on the disk. Like it was built into the device.

Metal legged cylinder descend the wall as a spider. Charging toward us. They get to 2.8” away. One shot can be fired from Ragnar and Iryas. AC 2/3
Ragnar and Phineas both miss. Iryas hits for 5 damage. It does some damage, but only 3 points.
A panel opens at the top of the cylinders, and a telescoping device comes out. Looks like a really long pole that is extending from the open panel. 3' long needle thing. Lowers the thing like a lance pointing straight at us.
All the legs have joints on the disk things. The things have telescoping pointed things at us.
We cancel our charge and they finish their charge.
One going for Yohan and one on Bron. We attack first and both of us miss!
Yohan is AC 1/3 with the shield.
Hits on a 14. It strikes Yohan for 2 damage. Bron is AC 2/2, Misses!
Yohan must save versus poison, FAILED! Yohan locks up and falls to the ground, very rigid…not moving.
Phineas, Yohan, Bron and Phineas are up front. After Irayas shot the one with the yellow bar, it turned red causing 3 damage.
Bron Phineas and Ragnar. Bron is attacked but missed. Phineas is attacked but missed!
Bron destroys the yellow bar creature for 5 damage (3). Phineas misses the creature.
Risten fires his magic missiles for 9 damage! it is destroyed! A couple second later they both burst into flames, both are red and on fire. Bron pours water on them, which extinguishes them.
They weigh 300 coins. Yohan is still paralyzed. Litlee examines him and his puncture wound.
John will carry Yohan and Ragnar. Irayas will open doors now. We get the door open, there is some stairs up ahead that go up to some kind of landing. There is a wall in the back with a square and a rectangle.
Depressed parts are glowing soft sapphire blue. To our left is a door made of stone. Has the same sort of rectangle glowing a soft yellow.
Phineas tries to insert the rectangle, glows slightly brighter and then it automatically opens a crack.
Bron pushes open the door.
Inside are racks and shelves covered in dust. 29 bars of electrum on the shelves. There is a cylindrical metal flask. It is shorter than a water bottle. It is made of steel. it is empty and clean. High quality steel. Morlan wanted a long purple tube. The flask is empty.
Yohan is still paralyzed. We search the room thoroughly while waiting on Yohan and his paralysis to dissipate.
30 minutes, 60 minutes have passed and he still is paralyzed.
On this side of the door there is no sign saying anything about identification. The south door has a handle on the wall. Phineas pulls the handle. The light globes turn red and there is a wide hallway. No panel on the south west door
Smokeless fire on the west wall. Along the wall are tables with rusted utensils for cooking and compartments below the counters. There is heat coming off the fire. There is a latch on the door leading to the test area.
Inside the compartments are many spoiled iron rations. Dry goods inside sacks and stale liquid.
Yohan is back.
Our party descends into a long room. Long stone table where we found a parchment labeled water with 5 other words.

Two black husks on the ground that are currently burnt and shattered. Odd metal compartments two drone things in a half constructed state. On the north wall are 3 latches on the wall. They are attached to parts of the wall that are sectioned off.
3 outlines on the walls.
Bron pulls up the left one, wall opens up and descending from the latch is a bunk with a bed in it. Bedding is in good condition.
Yohan searches the bed while Bron opens the next one.
We are not surprised.
Yohan searches through the bed, Bron is about to pull the next one when suddenly from behind us, we see a sudden light. On the wall is something coming out of the wall, as though moving through the wall. Like a Stone Golem with small legs and arms.
On its torso body is a crudely carved blocky face and below the face is a gemstone glowing a baby blue color. They slide out as if coming out of honey. They are 7' tall.
These things charge at us from the rear of the party. Actually just random. Ragnar and Litlee are charged. Weapon longer than 3' can attack first.
Litlee misses. Ragnar has AC 7/7 it misses! Litlee has AC 3/3, it hits for 5 damage with a fist! She is down! Irayas does 5 damage!
Bron misses Phineas hits for 2 damage with a mace. Timbraun yanks the gem out of the center for the one in front of Ragnar, it freezes up!
The one on Litlee is still up. John tries to grab the gem.
It attacks John AC 0/3, it misses! We miss!
It attacks Yohan, has AC 1, it misses!
Bron keeps missing, as does most everyone.
Phineas hits for 6 damage. Irayas Moves Silently.
Bron does 17 damage! And it crashes to the ground. John grabs the gem off the one that is shattered.
The gems were lighter than sapphire. We are heading out and going to Great Hill, then continue on to Starling. We get all of the Electrum Bars then will go to Great Hill, Relomo, Elir and then Starling.
It is cloudy and we camp outside.
Next day, weather clears up, and we arrive in Great Hill. Give Nodo the Quick one of the drones. he says he will reward us next time.
Head to Relomo, still clear weather.
Head to Elir, its Cloudy.
Next day is still cloudy and we head to Starling! We arrive safely!
Phineas will cast Detect Magic on everything, shield and flask are both magic. Gems are worth 500 gp each.
Phineas tries to pour water into the cylinder.
They will roll off for the magic shield. John gets the +1 Shield.
No effect on the water unless you say River or Sea followed by foam, flow, run

Risten shows the drone to somone to get it identified. He levels up! Training for next week.
John is at level 3 now, training.
